Is It Safe to Remove Face Tattoo With a Laser?

Face tattoos spell gangster and unprofessional in most corporate and casual environments. A lot of people find it hard to get a new job, land a new client or even get a new partner because of their face tattoos. A good percentage of people who come to us at Ink Doubt Denver, for facial tattoo removal do so because it increases their chances of getting ahead in their career, business, and relationship. One of the questions we have to answer while consulting with such clients is, is it safe to remove a facial tattoo with a laser?

The answer is, yes. It is safe to remove a face tattoo with a laser. Compared to other tattoo removal options, laser treatment is the safest because it is non-invasive and non-ablative. However, the safety of a facial laser tattoo removal treatment also depends on the laser device, laser accessories, and dermatologist.

In this article, we’ll be discussing what to expect during facial tattoo removal, how much a facial tattoo removal costs, how long it takes for your face tattoo to clear completely, how to remove temporary face tattoo and safety precautions to take before, during and after a laser face tattoo removal.

Let’s start by telling you…

What To Expect During Facial Tattoo Removal

Facial tattoo removal treatment feels slightly different from tattoo removal treatment on other parts of the body.  You should expect the following when you sign up for a facial laser tattoo removal treatment.

1. Mild pain

Removing tattoos on your face could hurt more than removing tattoos on other parts of your body because there’s less fat on your face to cushion the laser ‘stings’.

However, this mild pain can be avoided by using a numbing cream recommended by your tattoo removal provider. You can purchase numbing creams over-the-counter.

You can also opt for ice packs, injectable anesthetics, or cold air machines to numb the pain.

At Ink Doubt Denver, we invested in the Zimmer Cryo. The Zimmer Cryo is a cooling device that numbs the skin by blowing freezing cold (-30º C) air through a long hose.

2. It may take a while to see the results you want

This is not peculiar to face tattoo removal. It applies to removing/ erasing tattoos on other parts of the body too.

Scars, bruises, and skin discolorations (which could be hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation) are common after-effects of laser tattoo removal.

Two things that can cause epidural injury during laser tattoo removal are the health of your skin and the volume of tattoo ink broken down during treatment.

To reduce the chances of an epidural injury occurring, dermatologists try not to break down too much tattoo ink at once. You’re also advised to wait for about 4 weeks or more before your next treatment. This hiatus between treatments is necessary to help your skin heal properly before the next session.

Depending on the depth of the tattoo ink, the size of the area of the tattoo to be treated, and other factors, it may take about a year or more before your tattoo fades completely.

But the beautiful thing about getting a laser face tattoo removal treatment at Ink Doubt if you’re in or around Denver is this:

We have invested in a laser accessory that makes it possible for your tattoo to be treated more than once in a single session. Traditionally, when using a laser for tattoo removal, your tattoo can be treated just once in a session. That’s why laser tattoo removal is known to be a single-pass treatment.

But with the DESCRIBE® PFD Patch, you can treat your tattoo up to 4 times in one session without hurting yourself. You know what this means, right? Faster results in less time.

The DESCRIBE® PFD Patch provides extra protection from thermal injury. It helps the laser light maintain more focus so it can penetrate deeper and shatter more inks.

Next, let’s answer the question…

How much does it cost to get a face tattoo removal?

If you’re considering face tattoo removal, this question must have crossed your mind.

The cost of a face tattoo removal isn’t fixed. At Ink Doubt Denver, we determine the price per treatment based on the number of treatments you’ll need and the size of the tattoo being treated.

Before we commence treatment, we assess your tattoo in person during a FREE CONSULTATION to figure out what will work best for your tattoo then create a pricing plan that works best for your needs.

You should check out our treatment packages and special discounts on our pricing page.

How Many Sessions Does It Take to Remove A Face Tattoo?

On average, it can take between 5 to 10 treatments for your face tattoo to fade completely. However, it could take more or less than 5-10 sessions for you to see the result you’ll be happy with.

The number of sessions required is determined by a couple of factors. Some of which are- the age of the tattoo, size, location, ink colors, depth and density of the tattoo ink, and your health.

These factors vary from person to person, so we can’t tell you it will take a particular number of sessions for face tattoos to clear completely. To get an estimate on the number of sessions you need, you should visit us at 300E Hampden Ave Ste 110, Englewood, CO 80113,  for a free CONSULTATION.

What’s the best way to clean a temporary tattoo?

Exfoliating scrub or baby oil can be used to remove temporary tattoos.

Rub the exfoliating scrub over the tattoo in circular motions for at least 30 seconds, then rinse with warm water and clean with baby wipes.

To use baby or coconut oil, apply the oil across the temporary tattoo to wear off the ink, then clean with baby wipes.

Unlike ‘permanent’ tattoos, temporary tattoos aren’t injected into the skin. They only stick to the outer layer of your skin, that’s why they don’t last and are easy to clean off.

Safety Precaution to Take Before, During, and After Laser Face Tattoo Removal

  1. Use sunscreen

Sunscreens protect our skin from the ultraviolet (UV) radiation of the sun and protect it from sunburn.

  1. Use laser protection glasses

Light-emitting devices such as lasers can cause ocular hazards. To keep your eyes safe during tattoo removal, wear laser safety glasses to protect them from direct or reflected beams.

  1. Stay healthy

Staying healthy helps you heal faster.

Avoid alcohol, exercise, drink water and incorporate fruits and vegetables into your meal plan.
